The BSMA Mission


APICS Golden Gate Chapter

The Association for Operations Management is the global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in operations management, including production, inventory, supply chain, materials management, purchasing, and logistics. Since 1957, individuals and companies have relied on APICS for its superior training, internationally recognized certifications, comprehensive resources, and worldwide network of accomplished industry professionals. Chartered in 1960 as a non-profit organization, the Golden Gate Chapter (GGC) is the oldest APICS chapter in the Bay Area. Its mission is to be one of the leading providers of Enterprise and Operations Management education, resources, and information to the Greater San Francisco and East Bay Area business communities.


BayBio, Northern California

It is an independent, non-profit 501(c) (6) trade association serving the life science industry in Northern California through representatives in South San Francisco and through coalition partners in Washington, DC. Through advocacy, membership services, programs and more, BayBio brings the world's greatest life science community to your fingertips. The Mission of BayBio is to support the regional bioscience community through advocacy, enterprise support, and the enhancement of research collaboration. Our members include organizations engaged in, or supportive of, research, development and commercialization of life science technologies.


BIO is the world's largest biotechnology organization, providing advocacy, business development and communications services for more than 1,100 members worldwide. BIO members are involved in the research and development of innovative healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotechnology products. Corporate members range from entrepreneurial companies developing a first product to Fortune 500 multinationals. We also represent state and regional biotech associations, service providers to the industry, and academic centers.

The mission of BIO is to be the champion of biotechnology and the advocate for its member organizations - both large and small.


BIOCOM is the largest regional life science association in the world, representing more than 550 member companies in Southern California.

The association focuses on initiatives that positively influence the region’s life science community in the development and delivery of innovative products that improve health and quality of life. This includes initiatives in capital formation, public policy, workforce development, group purchasing and member services such as networking events. The mission of BIOCOM is to position the Southern California life sciences community to achieve individual and collective success on the world stage of scientific and technological innovation, and in the development of products that improve global health and quality of life.


Council of Supply Chain Professionals

Founded in 1963, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) is the leading worldwide professional association dedicated to education, research, and the advancement of the supply chain management profession. A non-profit organization with over 9,000 members globally, representing business, government, and academia from 63 countries, CSCMP members are the leading practitioners and authorities in the fields of logistics and supply chain management. The San Francisco Bay Area RT is recognized for its dinner meetings.


Institute for Supply Management, (ISM)

As the largest supply management institute in the world, the mission of Institute for Supply Management (ISM) is to lead supply management. By executing and extending its mission through education, research, standards of excellence, influence building and information dissemination — including the renowned monthly ISM Report On Business® — ISM continues to extend the global impact of supply management. ISM is a not-for-profit membership association serving more than 40,000 supply management professionals in 75 countries. ISM offers credentialing to professionals around the world with the Certified Professional in Supply Management® (CPSM®) qualification.


The organization is the world’s most comprehensive supply chain management information resource. We have established a partnership with to provide content for their Life Sciences (Pharmaceutical, Biotech, and Healthcare) Channel. Bob Bowman interviewed several executives who spoke at our 2nd annual Biotech Supply Chain Academy held in South San Francisco on October 19-20, 2009.


Women in Logistics (WIL)

WIL is a nonprofit organization incorporated under the name of Women in Logistics with members, both men and women, from the following industries: Logistics, Transportation, Freight Forwarding, Technology, and Supply Chain Management. Since 1981, WIL has provided Bay Area logistics and transportation professionals a forum to promote career growth through education and networking.
